NWT Pike Fishing

Rod and reel rentals are available at Brabant Lodge for a fee.

Medium Heavy to Extra Heavy rods are highly recommended for use Northern Pike fishing at Brabant Lodge. Musky rods, Catfish rods, and Inshore Saltwater Rods are the preferred rods of our professional fishing guides and return guests. 

Baitcasting Recommendations: Shimano Compre Musky, Tackle Industries 2-piece Musky Rods, Cabela's Predator Casting, or similar

Spinning Rod Recommendations: Penn Wrath spinning rod, Penn Fierce III spinning rod, or similar

3000-5000 size spinning reels and 300-400 size baitcasting reels, or similar, are the recommended reel sizes for use Northern Pike fishing at Brabant Lodge. 

Baitcasting Recommendations: Shimano Tranx 300, Abu Garcia Ambassador C4 5600, or similar  

Spinning Reel Recommendations: Shimano Nasci 3000, Penn Fierce III 5000, Penn Wrath 5000, or similar

Braided line is a necessity for Northern Pike fishing at Brabant Lodge. Our recommendation is minimum 50 lbs.,  but many of our professional fishing guides and return guests fish with 65 or 80 lbs. braid. We recommend Sufix 832 braided fishing line or PowerPro MaxCuatro braided fishing line. 

Monofilament and Fluorocarbon fishing lines are not permitted for use for Northern Pike fishing at Brabant Lodge.

We recommend braided steel leaders for all Northern Pike fishing at Brabant Lodge as our Northern Pike are hard fighting and very toothy. We offer handmade custom Brabant tough Northern Pike Leaders for sale in our tackle shop in the Main Lodge. Our recommended store-bought leader is a Terminator Titanium Leader in 12 inch length and 100 lbs. test strength.

8wt-12wt fly fishing rods with full floating or intermediate sink tip fly fishing line is ideal at Brabant Lodge depending on your fishing technique. We recommend 10-12wt rods for trophy Northern Pike fishing. We recommend straight 40-60 lbs. fluorocarbon tied to a 9-12 inch wire bite guard.
